All the Things Spring Brings

Hello Friend!

As we bounce into spring, we’re excited to update you on some new things we have blooming over at Seen&Heard! First, thank you for taking a few minutes out of your day to consider the work we do- we hope it brings some brightness to your Wednesday inbox…

First, we have a graduation coming up! Yes it’s true we have another cohort reaching the finish line soon and we can’t wait to recognize their achievements! This year’s theme is “Inherently Valuable”. We chose this theme because oftentimes youth in care are either seen as a problem or a poster child, and we want to gently remind folks that these young people are valuable because all people are valuable. Even (and especially) those on the margins of our society or without family support. You won’t want to miss this chance to witness their greatness. Mark your calendars!

Secondly, we’re looking for volunteer drivers to get our youth to their behind the wheel classes this summer in our License to Drive Program! Maybe you have a little extra time these days and are looking to connect with a young person needing a bit of support and encouragement as they begin “adulting”. We’re looking for safe and supportive people to volunteer once a week for 6-8 weeks this summer, specifically by providing transportation. Maybe that’s YOU! Click below to fill out an interest form and find out more.

If you can’t volunteer, maybe you can pitch in for gas? With prices these days we are anticipating higher costs for our driver’s ed program, Screech! We don’t want this to be a “bump in the road” on our student’s journey to independence. You can pitch in with this special designation so your donation goes to specifically off-set costs associated with this gas increase. Thanks, buddy!

Finally, as usual, our students are shining and showing off their empowered glow. We’ve got one graduate from 2021 teaching English in South Korea (pictured above), another applying to law school, and another who will be a counselor at a camp for youth in care, because they want to give back to their community. We can’t believe how lucky we are to do this work and be a witness to the amazing youth we serve.

Happy Spring, everyone!
